Living life the best I can

I am a college graduate, Elvis fanatic, best friend, wife, mother and grandmother who is still trying to figure out life at 39 years old.

Behind every great child is a mom who’s pretty sure she’s screwing it all up.”

My name is Crystal and I have a husband and four children and two grandsons. I suffer from major depression disorder, anxiety, attention deficit disorder and alcoholism. I have been in therapy for 16 years and am constantly trying to find happiness and peace. I started this blog for all the moms who find themselves wanting more out of life than motherhood, for all the women who feel like they have more than just that identity and are tired of feeling guilty for it. I also started it for my children, and maybe other children, to understand that mom is a human being who has been through so many experiences that have shaped who she is. Mom is usually the backbone of the family. Mom is supposed to have it all together. But mom is tired, mom is overwhelmed, mom has sometimes lost herself. Mom loves her family no matter how much she hurts, but sometimes she deserves grace and space to be herself. Sometimes, no matter if you don’t understand her, you just have to LOVE MOM.

FAMILY BREAKDOWN
Lexi

Lexi is my oldest monkey. She is currently 20 years old and has two boys, 5 year old and 7 month old. I was 18 years old when I had her and her father was 15 years old. She received her high school diploma when she was 16 years old and is currently obtaining her certification for lash technician. Life has not been good to my princess so far but she is a fighter. She is by far my most thick-skinned, sassy, and confident child.

Julian

Julian is my second born and my oldest son. He just turned 18 years old and is in his senior year of high school. Julian is the brains of the bunch and is set to go to Baylor University in the Fall of 2024. He has always been the kid I have felt closest to but this year has taken a toll on him and our relationship.

Nevaeh

Nevaeh is my third monkey and baby girl. She is 13 years old, 13 going on 30. Nevaeh is my last child from my first marriage and was the youngest when I met my new husband. Consequently, she is the apple of both of her daddies’ eyes but has her typical teenage problems. She is an avid animal lover, she’s quirky, and she is very strong willed and outspoken (which is good and bad).

Ethan

Ethan is my last and youngest monkey. He is 3 years old and is a handful! I was 36 years old when I had Ethan and he is my first and only child with my current husband. His daddy takes first chair in his everyday needs and routine and I am completely ok with that!
